Introduction
Welcome to the Department of Social Welfare at Incheon National University! With an aim to play a role in advancing the society and improve quality of life for all, our department is dedicated to education, research, and service to both students and the community. We seek to provide an excellent education to future social workers and social welfare experts enabled to meet the various needs of clients with specialized knowledge and skills. It is our mission to train the future leaders of our society with a broad and balanced curriculum, encompassing critical elements of social welfare from basic philosophy, practice theories and models, to research methods and policy development.

Principles
- Students are to choose their within Department of Social Welfare and take courses accordingly.
- Credits of courses previously taken at other universities or graduate programs may be counted towards graduation requirement with the approval of the department chair.
- In addition to coursework and qualifying exam, students are required to (1) publish articles (2) present a paper (oral or poster) at academic conference in the field of social welfare. One published article is required for students in master’s program and two(or three)* are required for students in Ph. D. program.
For those who received master’s degree in social work/welfare without thesis, three publications (at least one article in KCI journals) are required.
