Introduction
Welcome to the Department of Economics at Incheon National University. With dedicated faculty and excellent students, our graduate program has made its best efforts to cultivate talented professionals who can meet the demands from both private and public sectors. Our program is designed to encompass training in economic theory and quantitative methods anchored on a foundation of real world issues. The graduate program also provides flexibility for students in choosing course work to suit their interests and intended professional careers. Students in our program learn advanced economic ideas and methodology which help them systematically analyze complex economic issues in modern society. The department has strived to build an exciting research environment for students, in which they can enjoy academic interaction with their colleagues and faculty. We invite you to share your passion to learn economics and be part of shaping the future of our world.
Goals
Based on the balanced curriculum between theoretical and practical studies, the economics graduate program endeavors to nurture specialized economists who can play a leading role in the industrial, financial, and public sectors as well as academia. Equipped with the knowledge of economics theories and empirical methodologies combined with leadership, graduates in our program will contribute to prosperity of our community: whether it is local, national, or global. Our faculty and staff will support them every step of the way to achieve this goal.

Principles
- Major subjects are shared between Master’s and PhD programs for efficiency.
- MA students are required to complete microeconomics. PhD students are required to complete microeconomics, macroeconomics, and economic methodology.
- MA students with prerequisite course obligations, who do not have BA degree in economics, are required to complete 12 credits of undergraduate-level courses in economics. Among them, undergraduate-level microeconomics and macroeconomics should be completed.
- PhD students with prerequisite course obligations, who do not have BA degree in economics, are required to complete 24 credits of graduate-level courses in economics. Among them, graduate-level microeconomics and macroeconomics should be completed.
- Students may ask for a waiver for subjects taken in the previous universities with approvals from both the department chair and the faculty member in charge of the subject.
- Graduate students may take courses from adjacent departments on approval by the department chair.
- Maximum credit cannot exceed 9 points per academic term. However, students with prerequisite course obligations may take up to 12 points per term.
