Introduction
The Department of Design offers balanced, integrated education through various curriculum in order to create new design culture demanded in the knowledge-information society. Based on which, its educational goal is to foster creative and competent designers who can reasonably solve all kinds of problems related to design, inspire flexible and broad ways of thinking for design, and propose future-oriented values and vision of design. Moreover, the Department of Design pursues academic research on the demands of the times of the knowledge society through a curriculum with higher levels of concept and acquisition of high-class theories and designing expertise. In addition, it aims at training creative and talented individuals of design research by helping students develop the abilities to think reasonably in relation to design and by offering advanced design education through broad academic approach.
Goals
The modern society is demanding creative and competent persons who not only are professional in the area of design, but also can design freely linking diverse areas of design. Accordingly, the Department is based on the interaction between humans and media, and convergence of design and arts, which are realized in the new environment in connection with different areas, such as art and science, or technology and design. Therefore, the educational goal of the Department of Design is to foster design professionals with specialized creativity to satisfy the plural social demands as the leader of the design culture of the 21st century.

Principles
- A graduate student should select one of the professors of each major as his/her academic advisor.
- In case when a major academic advisor cannot supervise a graduate student's writing a thesis because of long-term overseas study or other unavoidable circumstances, the academic advisor can change it just once under the agreement of other professors.
- A graduate student should take at least minimum credits necessary for the obtainment of degree.
- Regarding what's not regulated in these bylaws, Incheon national university’s graduate school rules are applied.
